Families of Revolutionaries: Alveda King
This week we’ve been bringing you stories from the families of revolutionaries. We conclude this series with Alveda King, the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I remember my uncle and dad having a conversation, and my uncle saying, ‘She’s growing up and she’s going to be a beautiful young lady, you better be ready because they’re going to be chasing her!’ And that was the joke, that my dad had a nonviolent baseball bat and he was always on duty chasing the boys away. Alveda King grew up in a home where conversations about spirituality and social awareness were a part of everyday life.
During the Civil Rights Movement, her family home was bombed in Alabama. Over the years, King has authored books, served in Georgia’s House of Representatives, and is a contributor to Fox News. To listen to the entire interview click the audio player above.

Dr. Alveda King Counters Trump ‘Racism’ Claims, Slams Facebook for Blocking Pro-Life Message – IOTW Report
Alveda King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., joined Breitbart News Sunday on the eve of her uncle’s namesake holiday, hitting back at racism accusations against President Donald Trump and levying her own complaints against ultra-liberal Facebook. There’s all other kind of legislation and things that President Trump is passing, including getting a lot of black folks out of jail – he’s working on doing that believe it or not and putting them back to work. Putting America back to work – African-Americans especially because our job rate or our hiring rate was so low and it’s going up along with everybody else’s rate. He sees Americans as the people he is supposed to serve and he’s doing that.
Trump himself similarly dismissed the accusers, which included Rep. Lewis himself, earlier Sunday.
“Uncle Martin was definitely pro-life,” says Dr. Alveda King
Living a life of God’s love and nonviolence has been a tradition for the King family through generations. Dr. Alveda King is the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and she’s following in those footsteps just like her uncle, her dad, and her granddad. But she didn’t always.
When Alveda was younger, she bought into the feminist message that a woman can choose what to do with her own body. Actually, she says, that message is true! The lie is when this is used to justify abortion, because a baby is NOT a woman’s own body! When she talks about her motherhood, she now includes her two aborted children and one that was miscarried – she’s the mother of 9 children, 3 of whom she will meet in Heaven. Now Dr.
Alveda speaks often about protecting the unborn.
